Boost Creativity and Imagination

At Spotlights Theatre School, we believe in the power of the performing arts to enhance creativity and imagination in young minds. By participating in our Disney Week summer school in Beckenham, Orpington, and Anerley, children will have the chance to explore their creative potential. They will get to embody their favourite Disney characters, bringing stories to life through acting, singing, and dancing.

Build Confidence and Social Skills

Performing in front of an audience can be a transformative experience for young children. It helps them develop self-confidence and improve their public speaking skills. Our experienced instructors create a supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged. Through group activities and collaborative performances, kids also develop essential social skills, learning to work as a team and support each other.

Make New Friends

One of the most wonderful aspects of our summer workshops is the opportunity for children to make new friends. The shared experience of working towards a common goal fosters camaraderie and builds lasting friendships. Whether your child is naturally outgoing or a bit shy, they will find a welcoming and inclusive community at Spotlights Theatre School.

Learn from Experienced Instructors

Our team of professional instructors brings a wealth of experience in the performing arts. They are passionate about nurturing young talent and providing a high-quality educational experience. With their guidance, children will not only learn performance techniques but also gain insights into the discipline and dedication required in the world of theatre.

Physical Activity and Health Benefits

The Disney Week workshop is a fantastic way for kids to stay active during the summer holidays. Dancing and performing are excellent forms of exercise that improve physical fitness, coordination, and motor skills. The first day of Disney Week sets the stage for an exciting journey. Children will be introduced to the workshop and meet their fellow participants. Ice-breaking activities and games will help everyone feel comfortable and ready to dive into the magical world of Disney. The focus will be on building confidence and encouraging each child’s unique voice and movement style.

Why Performing Arts Classes are Beneficial for Young Children

Enhancing Cognitive Development

Engaging in performing arts from a young age has numerous cognitive benefits. It helps improve memory, attention, and concentration. Learning lines, songs, and dance routines requires children to use their memory and recall abilities. It also encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they interpret characters and scenes.

Emotional and Psychological Growth

The performing arts provide a safe space for children to express their emotions and explore different aspects of their personality. It can be particularly beneficial for children who may struggle with confidence or social anxiety. Through acting, singing, and dancing, they learn to manage their emotions and gain a sense of accomplishment.

Encouraging Discipline and Time Management

Participation in a structured workshop like Disney Week teaches children the importance of discipline and time management. They learn to balance fun with responsibility, understanding the importance of rehearsing and practicing to achieve their goals. These skills are transferable to other areas of their lives, including their academic studies.

How to Enroll

Sing Summer Workshop 2018

Sing Summer Workshop 2018 – Review

As summer draws to a close we have been looking back at our brilliant workshops for 4-6 year olds over the summer break.

Our talented Little Stars aged 4 to 6, had so much fun at the ‘Sing’ Spotlights summer schools in West Wickham and Orpington, this July and August. They loved being Buster Moon, Rosita, Ash, Meena and all their friends, in this amusing, exciting and brilliantly told story. The characters in ‘Sing’ put on a talent show, to raise money to save Buster Moon’s theatre. ‘Sing’ certainly gave our Little Stars the opportunity to show off their incredible talent in drama, dance and singing.

In five fun packed days, the amazing Little Stars teachers produced spectacular performances for the children’s families and friends. Each child had a speaking part and they looked brilliant in their costumes, performing on the stage. We were all delighted to see how much each child’s confidence grew and this was so well reflected in their performances. The children learnt several different dance styles and mastered the ‘Sing’ pop songs fantastically well.

As well as being a performing arts school, Spotlights is also a great place for children to socialise and make new friends. We’re so looking forward to seeing some of our summer school graduates, at our Little Stars classes, this September.

If you’d like your child to try a performing arts activity this September please get in touch and ask about the next date for a FREE trial class.
