Why Performing Arts Classes are Beneficial for Young Children

Enhancing Cognitive Development

Engaging in performing arts from a young age has numerous cognitive benefits. It helps improve memory, attention, and concentration. Learning lines, songs, and dance routines requires children to use their memory and recall abilities. It also encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they interpret characters and scenes.

Emotional and Psychological Growth

The performing arts provide a safe space for children to express their emotions and explore different aspects of their personality. It can be particularly beneficial for children who may struggle with confidence or social anxiety. Through acting, singing, and dancing, they learn to manage their emotions and gain a sense of accomplishment.

Encouraging Discipline and Time Management

Participation in a structured workshop like Disney Week teaches children the importance of discipline and time management. They learn to balance fun with responsibility, understanding the importance of rehearsing and practicing to achieve their goals. These skills are transferable to other areas of their lives, including their academic studies.

Sing Summer Workshop 2018

Sing Summer Workshop 2018 – Review

As summer draws to a close we have been looking back at our brilliant workshops for 4-6 year oldsย over the summer break.

Our talented Little Stars aged 4 to 6, had so much fun at the โ€˜Singโ€™ Spotlights summer schools in West Wickham and Orpington, this July and August. They loved being Buster Moon, Rosita, Ash, Meena and all their friends, in this amusing, exciting and brilliantly told story. The characters in โ€˜Singโ€™ put on a talent show, to raise money to save Buster Moonโ€™s theatre. โ€˜Singโ€™ certainly gave our Little Stars the opportunity to show off their incredible talent in drama, dance and singing.

In five fun packed days, the amazing Little Stars teachers produced spectacular performances for the childrenโ€™s families and friends. Each child had a speaking part and they looked brilliant in their costumes, performing on the stage. We were all delighted to see how much each childโ€™s confidence grew and this was so well reflected in their performances. The children learnt several different dance styles and mastered the โ€˜Singโ€™ pop songs fantastically well.

As well as being a performing arts school, Spotlights is also a great place for children to socialise and make new friends. Weโ€™re so looking forward to seeing some of our summer school graduates, at our Little Stars classes, this September.

If youโ€™d like your child to try a performing arts activity this September please get in touch and ask about the next date for a FREE trial class.
