Stars 1, 2 & 3 are high-energy, confidence-boosting drama, dance and singing classes for children aged 7 to 18. Our classes group children by age, so theyโll be learning alongside others at a similar stage โ and with no more than 20 in a class, thereโs plenty of space for their individual spark to shine!
Each term is packed with exciting material, from musical theatre numbers to street dance routines and chart-topping pop songs. We also bring in guest teachers to run fun, creative workshops in skills like stage combat or acting for the camera.
Every week, your child will work with a professional choreographer, drama coach and singing teacher: three hours of creativity, energy and encouragement that builds skill and self-belief in every session.
We run Stars 1, 2 & 3 engaging performing arts classes for school children across South East London. Each venue provides a safe, welcoming environment where children aged 7โ18 can explore their creativity, build confidence and learn new skills. At this age, children are discovering who they are, and creative expression can play a big part in helping them grow. Our performing arts classes are designed to nurture their confidence, communication and creativity while supporting their development in a fun, structured environment. Whether your child dreams of the West End or just wants to build skills in a supportive space, weโve created a place for them to shine.
Benefits of our classes include:
Your child will learn to work as part of a team and make new friends through drama games. Your child will also develop their creativity through improvisation exercises. Through the year your child will learn a variety of skills such as acting for camera, stage combat and comedy. These classes will help your child to develop both the foundations of stagecraft and their own self-confidence. Best of all, theyโll learn to express themselves, speak up and shine, on stage and in everyday life.
Our dance classes will help your child develop flexibility, physical strength and co-ordination skills in a safe environment. Your child will also develop social skills as they will often work with a partner for a piece of choreography. During the year your child will have the opportunity to learn a variety of dance styles from street to contemporary and musical theatre. And while theyโre learning the steps, theyโre also learning to trust their body, move with confidence and have loads of fun along the way.
Your child will learn the fundamentals of how to sing correctly, warming up vocally and using breathing techniques to create sound. This class will help your child both develop and find their own voice. There are opportunities throughout the year for your child to sing solo sections of a song during a showcase or musical theatre performance. Itโs all about finding their voice โ and having the confidence to let it be heard!
Performing regularly is a key part of helping children grow in confidence and apply their performing arts skills. Thatโs why our performing arts classes for school children in the Stars 1, 2 & 3 programme include two end-of-term performances each year. These performances not only showcase your childโs progress in their acting classes, dance and musical theatre classes, but also help them build self-esteem, teamwork and communication skills.
Your child will have the opportunity to take part in a costumed musical theatre production. This style of production encourages teamwork and allows the students to work together as a whole company. We add polish to the performance with professional sound and lighting production.
A showcase performance of class work ensures that you see for yourself the skills your child is developing at Spotlights. This is a more intimate style of performance than the musical theatre production. Your child will present their work in a small class group. There are lots of opportunities for solo singing, dance and drama during the showcase.
Our Stars 1, 2 & 3 classes are designed for children aged 7 to 18. We group students by age to make sure they learn with others at a similar stage of development. This ensures the material, pace and teaching style are suitable for their level.
Your child will build a wide range of performing arts skills, including acting, singing, and dance. They’ll also improve their communication skills, confidence, and ability to work as part of a team. Our classes also focus on creativity, physical coordination, and stage presence.
Yes! We regularly run holiday workshops and offer a free trial session for new students, so your child can experience our classes for kids before committing to a term. Itโs a great way for them to get a feel for the school and see if itโs the right fit.
